~vampire vs werewolf~
hubby and i caught the movie twilight over the weekend. knowing i couldn't sleep in a new place i.e. the chalet, might as well go watch a midnight movie

one revelation was that i only realised the next day (while we were chatting with hubby's frens at K's bday party) that its part 2 to the 1st movie, duh. i completely forgot about the movie till they mentioned it, and yes, i watched the 1st movie and hubby insisted he have never seen the 1st movie. ok, anyways, its vampires vs werewolves ya? mixed into a love story. the vampires are hot man, always slim, fair and never age. not to mention, quite the gentleman or lady as well.
okie so the verdict is out, i vote for vampires. hubby's vote went to the werewolves. i'm tabulating votes now as i go around the office, its vampires 2 vs werewolves 3. feedback on this blog if u wanna vote as well.

~happy birthday to Kayla~
Happy birthday to my lovely daughter, Kayla! Life would never hold the same meaning as it does now, because I have you
I hope you enjoyed your birthday and may the good Lord bless and keep you safe and well, always
I love this picture most of all! the two most important or "influential" women in my life are born on the same day, 56 years apart, haha.
K's first bday cake (yes, there are two this year), which has caused me much grief. i initially had my eye on a 3D barney bakerzin cake but just a week before k's bday, they told me that they didn't renew the license so they can't do it!! and i could choose any other cake (obviously that won't do right, urgh). so it was a mad rush for me to find another cake shop that could do a barney cake (with or without the license haha)
some shots of the bday girl

isn't this sweet? javier holding k's hands hee, they can get along leh
(note to Jasmine: this photo is priceless, haha)so, is k looking more like mommy now?

birthday cake no. 2, in an auspicious endless knot symbol for my dear mommy
Happy Birthday Mommy, I'm everything I am, because you love me

~melbourne (part 2)~
Day 4:
We did a half-day city tour where we visited many nice gardens in the city and some landmarks. Stumbled upon a children's garden and we really had a nice time enjoying our day out in the garden and open spaces. (without breaking out into a sweat!)
we went shopping after that at st kildas, acland st where i bought the most clothes there! i love this street (not just the shopping hor) they have wonderful european cake shops that date back centuries, yummy.
here's a pic of the oldest confectionery on the street, see the glow in my face? not from sugar high, but spending high haha!
Day 5
my favourite pic of k from this trip. we were having lunch at Queen Victoria Market. its a must go for all tourists, save your $ to buy your souvenirs here, its cheaper than other places. we went back again on the last day of our trip cos it was about a 20 min from our hotel, we love walking in this weather!
another pic i like of k, she was playing while mommy shopped
Day 6
I went shopping (mostly), ok, for a full whole day so i didn't really take any pics. i would recommend Bridge Road as another shopping avenue as they stock nice and unique pieces here at mostly factory outlet prices. clothes and all in Australia is relatively expensive comparing to the rest of Asia, but i still managed to get sonme lovely pieces! in total, i bought 14 pieces of clothing!! i think the cut of their clothes is very flattering so it always falls nicely in place.
Day 7
we went to Crowne Entertainment plaza which is along the Southbank river, and spent some time watching the sunset. just mommy and baby time as daddy heads to check out the casino for about 30mins. i had a really nice time, again its the same sunset, i never get tired of it. funny thing is, i never noticed how lovely sunsets are all these while, until melbourne, hmm. now, i'll stop to watch if i see a setting sun. the last one i saw was on sunday, at vivocity, overlooking sentosa

isn't this a lovely pic, with a river in view and a bird resting along the riverside, against the backdrop of a setting sun - classic moment

k was having a good time chasing the birds while i chased after k to make sure she doesn't fall into the river
it was still fun!after dinner by the river, took a nice walk along the bridge before heading back to our hotel, our last evening in Melbourne. nice way to remember Melbourne

Day 8
waiting to board our flight home, the good thing about bringing a tot is that you get "priority" treatment. so we get to board on the plane first, with a nice waiting area and all

k made a german fren on our way back, he's a really sweet and shy boy. they are about a month apart (k's younger). k was trying to do a wave, not avoiding him like what this pic seems to suggest, hee.

~melbourne (part 1)~
finally, the super delayed blog about the Hengs' vacation!
Day 1:
we had a tiring overnight flight to Melbourne, the plane and the ride was smooth but i didn't get a chance to sleep a wink! so when we arrived, was so beat that we had to sleep a few hours before getting up for lunch. wennt shopping nearby our hotel after that (there's a pretty decent factory outlet mall within walking distance from our hotel) and had an early night's rest for the next day's programme.
Day 2:
woke up bright and early all ready to start our tour! we've got to find our own way for the pick-ups to the day tours. as we walked along the streets, i decided to stop for a pic, i like the lovely-random-kind-of mess they make on their walls. like these posters, looks so edgy, when do you see this in SG? probably be fined, haha.
we finally found our pick-up point (after some slight drama) and started our tour nicely. the guides are very informative and professional so you'll be in good hands once you get onboard

this is our lunch, snowgum roasted chicken! its quite nice and tender, came with a bottle of wine. i needed that after a long ride in the bus into the countryside
plus this city gal gotta brace herself for a farm tour hahadaddy and k milking a cow! i was the official photographer and busy making sure i don't step on any dung, hee. k was in awe as she didn't expect a cow to be this big! we went round the farm in a wagon which is kinda cool, and went on to see sheep shearing and herding. k was probably most excited when she saw....kangaroos!!
check out her expression! i was worried (yes kiasu mommy as always) that the kangaroo's gonna kick her or something. after this experience, she loves kangaroos!
k trying to do a victory sign....we headed for the koala conservation centre next!
quite bummed out at this stop cos i could only see the koalas' bums!! (yes, pun was intended). being a conservation and all, we couldn't carry or hold any koalas for pictures, so k couldn't get a good look at 'em urgh. no choice loh, take with big fake koala rather than none. then we went on to Philip Island, penguins here we come!!!
taken while waiting for dusk to approach, and the penguins to come ashore. couldn't take any pics of the penguins so as to not hurt their eyes or scare them but they were really tiny and cute!! i have come to appreciate sunsets more and more since melbourne (gives me a sense of peace). now, waiting for the penguins take a while, some patience required. from this can see which one of the Hengs had the most patience, hee.
Day 3:
the famous Great Ocean Road tour! honestly, we think that unless you self-drive this route, it can be quite boring getting up and down the bus, looking at rocks, the ocean and different towns. it was the coldest day we had in melbourne and it was super windy! little k was petrified at the wind and refused to look up for most of the pics. she kept saying that it made her hair messy (yes, subtly you can see who she takes after haha)
at the starting point of the Great Ocean Road
one of the few pics where we could catch K's face

~serendipity~
one of my favourite words, and now possibly my favourite word. i have been hitting many rough patches this year (as you would know from my endless whining blogs) as nothing that happens to me seem right. in a bizarre effort to stay sane, i keyed in the word Serendipity in my phone, so i see this everytime i start up. its kinda like a comfort for me to hang on in there, and wish for this to touch my life
i think it somewhat did.in case you haven't heard of this word, here's the wikipedia definition: Serendipity is the effect by which one accidentally stumbles upon something fortunate, especially while looking for something entirely unrelated.
i have been unhappy and unable to see things clearly for a long time, but somehow, through some chance encounters recently, i have stumbled upon some fortunate outcomes. somehow, my thoughts are clearer and i know better what i want and need. its hard to explain in real terms without divulging too many secrets (haha). i believe in Serendipity and i'm glad i have been touched.
